Business Details
We began our journey in 1966, when I first entered a reupholstery shop at age fifteen, learning traditional French edges, double stuffing, and button tufting. By 1974 we had started operating our own studio while still working fulltime, building a loyal client base through meticulous craftsmanship. In 1978 we constructed a dedicated woodworking shop in our home, expanding our capabilities to include original furniture construction. The mentorship of Swiss master Frank Singer in 1980 deepened our expertise in handtufting and reinforced our commitment to authentic techniques. Since 1985 we have regularly taught upholstery workshops at the Rochester Institute of Technology, sharing knowledge with aspiring artisans. In 1986 we purchased our current building, creating a shared machine shop that allows us to collaborate with other skilled craftsmen.
The tradition of renting space to artisans continues, fostering a creative ecosystem and enabling complex collaborative projects. Our portfolio now spans original creations, detailed restorations for museums such as the George Eastman House, and heirloom pieces for private collectors. We specialize in custom furniture, upholstery, and restoration, always prioritizing precision, durability, and aesthetic integrity. Every piece is conceived through a rigorous design process that incorporates client input, concept drawings, and iterative refinement. We uphold the highest professional standards, ensuring every finished product reflects our dedication to quality craftsmanship. Our long history of client satisfaction and expert training underpins our reputation as a trusted partner for discerning homeowners and institutions alike.
